Fallen Princesses

Full article here.

Dina Goldstein has created a provocative body of photographic work.

"The project was inspired by my observation of three-year-old girls, who were developing an interest in Disney's Fairy tales. As a new mother I have been able to get a close up look at the phenomenon of young girls fascinated with Princesses and their desire to dress up like them. The Disney versions almost always have sad beginning, with an overbearing female villain, and the end is predictably a happy one. The Prince usually saves the day and makes the victimized young beauty into a Princess."

The Photo History Timeline Collection

I just found this great website.

From the website:
"The Photo History Timeline Collection is a privately owned collection of original 19th and 20th century photographs and related artifacts that traces the technical and artistic development of photography and photo-mechanical printing from their origins in England and France in the early 19th century up through worldwide use in the mid-20th century."
It has a large collection of images hosted on Flickr and a photostream and slideshow; as well as links to other collections.
